NCLEX Preparation Study Guide
Three program-specific NCLEX (nursing licensure) exam preparation guides that provide a helpful and easy to follow user experience to encourage Rasmussen University nursing students to prepare for the exam throughout the entire length of their program.
Not passing the NCLEX has substantial repercussions for the student as well as Rasmussen, so a standardized guide that students would actually use, and benefit from, was a priority.

The challenge was to take several lengthy and unorganized Word docs and create a degree-long study guide that students would be excited to use.
Project Task and Role
Lead designer in charge of visual direction, design development and design execution.
Collaborated with copywriter, creative directors and project owner.
The original source material was a Word doc that was not very well organized nor engaging to use. This needed to completely restructured and redesigned in order to be useful to students.

The Solution
The copywriter took the first pass at restructuring and organizing the information and from there we collaborated on how to finesse the information architecture to make this guide easy to use.
In addition to the new easy to follow hierarchy, brand style elements, quotes, tips, callouts and images were added to make it more visually interesting and to keep students motivated and more likely to use it.

The document was set up as an interactive PDF with editable fields, check boxes and working links. To provide flexibility to all users, it works just as well printed, with space for notes and QR codes for easy access to the referenced resources.

Unique study guides were created for each degree program and version of the NCLEX Exam.
